The European Commission (EC) is expected to finalise a decision to impose restrictions on a generic version of a popular drug, Cialis, for erectile dysfunction (ED).

The EC is expected to issue a statement shortly.
“We remain confident that the regulatory process is well-defined, both within the EU and globally, and we will continue to work with our partners to make sure that all available information is appropriately disclosed,” said European Commission spokeswoman Marit Hilton. “We will continue to work with our partners to ensure that our decisions on the use of Cialis will not be influenced by any decisions taken by the EMA.”

The EMA noted that the decision was “not an expected step forward” and said that it was “appropriate to discuss this with our partners”.
